Shoreline Rejuvenation

Small gestures for a Grand Lake!

The Federation of lakes of Val-des-Monts launched in summer 2009 a project aimed at the people living along the shore of the beautiful Grand Lake. The project "Small gestures for a Grand Lake!" was run in partnership with the Association of Grand Lake and the municipality of Val-des-Monts.

Thanks to this project, the Grand Lake residents discovered environmentally-sound actions to adopt while living on a lake. They also benefited from a large choice of shrubs and trees to rejuvenate their shoreline at a very low cost, 60 % rebate from the cost price.

Environmentally-sound actions

During this project, two environmental specialist visited 55 residents of Grand Lake to give some information regarding invasive species (water milfoil, purple loosestrife, etc.), water consumption, vegetation of your shoreline, gardening, household products and the use of fertilizers and pesticides.

Shoreline vegetation

The shoreline vegetation plays a crucial role in the protection of the water quality of our lakes. This project helped more than 40 residents of Grand Lake to environmentally-sound landscaping their shoreline in respects to their preferences and the specifics of their lot. In total, 4,400 sq. m of shoreline were rejuvenated on the shores of Grand Lake thanks to this projects.

Thanks to all the participants !
