Board Action Plan

1. We are committed to ensuring that our lake water is tested on an annual basis and in a scientifically recognized manner. To this end, our lake water testing is now done in conjunction with other lakes that form part of our water basin using the same techniques so that we can compare results and track the outcomes of our water quality strategies.

2. We have selected a well respected and scientific framework to guide us in the management of our lake water. The title of the framework is "Canadian Guidance Framework for the Management of Phosphorus in Freshwater Systems" (Environment Canada, February 2004, Report # 1-8). We will explain the framework at the general meeting scheduled in July.

3. We will work in close collaboration with the specialists at the municipal, provincial and federal government levels to assist us in implementing the framework i.e., determining the reference level, the water quality index, etc.

4. We will work with the Federation of Lakes to address the water quality issue as a whole.

5. We will identify and inform all our property owners of corrective actions.

  • Regenerate your shoreline
  • Reduce the use of phosphates
  • Do not use fertilizers, insecticides or pesticides, etc.
